Book Review: A Memory of Light

As you may know, this is a novel that Brandon Sanderson wrote to completion after the author of the Wheel of Time series, Robert Jordan, passed away a few years ago. RIP.

The Forsaken

Without giving any spoilers, A Memory of Light serves as the finishing novel to the Wheel of Time series. If you count the prologue to the series, New Spring, WOT runs 15 books long. AMOL is an amazing addition to the series and is written so skillfully that it is almost impossible to put down. I finished all 910-ish pages in a matter of days (and that’s with more than half my days spent away from it working)! I do not want to give the details away for those who have read it or will read it, but it does bring many issues to light from the previous novels and ties up all the loose ends. The identity of the Forsaken, Demandred … Perrin’s hunt against Isam … the takeover of the Black Tower … Rand’s battle against Shai’tan … everything gets resolved and leaves the reader with a satisfied sense of accomplishment.

The only disappointment is that it is the final book in the WOT series. After reading 15 books in a series, each of them around 1,000 pages long, it’s almost impossible for a reader to not get attached to the characters. Well, it was a fun journey and definitely an unforgettable one, and I can’t recommend The Wheel of Time series enough to readers out there. Five stars, for sure.
